E8 - An answer to everything?
Surfer dude stuns physicists with theory of everything
E8 encapsulates the symmetries of a geometric object that is 57-dimensional and is itself is 248-dimensional. Lisi says "I think our universe is this beautiful shape."
What makes E8 so exciting is that Nature also seems to have embedded it at the heart of many bits of physics. One interpretation of why we have such a quirky list of fundamental particles is because they all result from different facets of the strange symmetries of E8.... "
Well, seems pretty cool, never mind being pretty complicated :|

Kinetic Sculptures
Sidney, you stupid elephant!
Lembrei-me desta personagem.

Vale a pena ver!

Global warming: truth or propaganda?
Vaclav Klaus, president of the Czech Republic, argues in the Financial Times that ambitious environmentalism is the biggest threat to freedom, democracy, the market economy and prosperity.
Mr Klaus writes that “global warming hysteria has become a prime example of the truth versus propaganda problem” and the issue “is more about social than natural sciences and more about man and his freedom than about tenths of a degree Celsius changes in average global temperature.”
Do you agree? Or do small climate changes demand far-reaching restrictive measures?
Following an overwhelming response from readers, Mr Klaus has answered a selection of questions from the hundreds that were submitted.By the way, I should say that I've been, in the last weeks, commissioning an electrofilter for two industrial glass furnaces which is really efficient. In time I shall post a small video with the before and after smoke getting out. Its impressive, but on the other hand, it consumes as much electrical energy as 100 houses fully running non stop its appliances...

A ansiedade do status

Scientists looking at the effect global warming will have on our major cities say a modest increase in the number of urban parks and street trees could offset decades of predicted temperature rises.
